Sherwood Grange on Robin Hood Lane hosts a Parkinson's Café with Parkinson's UK on Thursday 29 October, 2.30pm to 4pm, and every last Thursday after.

People living with Parkinson’s in Kingston Vale, and the families who care for them, are invited to a Parkinson’s Café at Sherwood Grange care home on Thursday 29 October, from 2.30pm to 4pm. The home, on Robin Hood Lane, runs the café in partnership with the charity Parkinson’s UK.

It is not a one-off. The café opens to visitors on the last Thursday of every month, with hot drinks, freshly baked treats and the chance to talk to the home’s staff and to experts from Parkinson’s UK about the condition and the support available to local families.

Why the home is opening its doors

Malgo Wcislo, the home manager at Sherwood Grange, said the idea came from what staff see every day with their own residents:

“We’re always looking for ways to strengthen our community and offer support to those who need it most.

“At Sherwood Grange, we care for many residents living with Parkinson’s, and we have seen first-hand how the experiences of individuals and their families can be transformed by having access to the right information and support.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming the community and helping people benefit from the specialist knowledge and expert advice available.”

The invitation is not limited to the home’s own residents and their relatives: it is open to anyone from Kingston Vale and the surrounding area who wants to find out more about Parkinson’s, or simply to meet others in the same position.
