Fabric Land is closing its shop at 33 Old London Road on Saturday 28 November. Online orders continue, and the chain's only other shop is in Bristol.

Fabric Land is closing its Kingston shop. The fabric and haberdashery retailer will shut the branch at 33 Old London Road on Saturday 28 November.

The company announced the closure on its Instagram account on the evening of Tuesday 27 October. “It is with deep regret that we announce the closure of our Kingston-on-Thames shop,” it said. It thanked “all the local customers of this branch” and said it hoped to see them “before the doors close on Saturday 28th November”.

The post gave no reason for the closure. By Saturday it had drawn more than 300 likes and 51 comments.

What it means for you

  • You have four weeks. The shop’s last trading day is Saturday 28 November.
  • Opening hours until then, according to the shop’s own page: 9.15am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.
  • Online orders carry on. Fabric Land said its website “is still available for orders”.
  • The nearest other shop is in Bristol. The company says it is open seven days a week. Its website lists only two shops, Bristol and Kingston, plus a click and collect warehouse.
  • Click and collect at Kingston. The shop page still offered click and collect from the Kingston branch on 31 October. If you order for collection in November, allow for the company’s stated pickup window of up to five days, and check it lands before the 28th.
  • The shop’s phone number is 020 8549 4325.
