Kingston Wire is an independent news and information site for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. We report what the public record shows and keep the everyday local information accurate and in one place.
The area we cover
The borough, and only the borough: Kingston town centre, Norbiton, Canbury, Kingston Hill, Kingston Vale and Coombe; Surbiton, Berrylands, Seething Wells, Tolworth and Hook Rise; New Malden, Old Malden and Motspur Park; Chessington and Malden Rushett.
KT postcodes run a long way past the borough boundary into Surrey, so Thames Ditton, East Molesey, Esher, Epsom, Ewell, Leatherhead and Cobham all have KT addresses but a different council. We do not cover them, because their bin rounds, council tax bands and planning decisions are set somewhere else. There is also more than one Kingston in England, including Kingston upon Hull, so we check that a record is about this one before we publish it.
How we work
We report from primary sources: the council’s own news and registers, the Kingston planning register at publicaccess.kingston.gov.uk, police.uk crime data, The Gazette, the Food Standards Agency ratings register and other public records. Every fact is linked to its source so you can check it yourself, and we say when we last updated it. Where a record is ambiguous we say so. We use British English and plain language.
